Car Strikes, Kills 12-Year-Old Boy in Park Slope

A 12-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car at Prospect Park West and 3rd Street Tuesday, Police have confirmed.

Investigators say that the child ran into Prospect Park West from the east side when he was struck by a white 2006 Chevrolet van heading southbound on Prospect Park West at 5:15 p.m. The boy, who police identified as Samuel Cohen-Eckstein, was brought to Methodist Hospital by EMS. He was pronounced DOA. 

First Italian Restaurant Week Features Four Park Slope Eateries

Brooklyn is home to countless fantastic Italian eateries, so what better way to celebrate Italian Heritage Month with the first ever Italian Restaurant Week? 

In all, 39 restaurants, including five in Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill and Red Hook, will feature prix-fixe menus for both lunch and dinner starting Oct. 10 through Oct. 17.

Annual Halloween Children's Parade Back for 2013

A favorite among Park Slope children and their families, the annual Park Slope Halloween Children's Parade, cancelled last year due to Hurricane Sandy, returns this year.

This year’s theme, To Boo or Not to Boo, invites neighbors to come dressed up as their favorite fictional characters. 

The parade, which was cancelled last year due to Hurricane Sandy, is set for Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. rain or shine.

One Killed, One Hospitalized After Barclays Center Subway Incident

One person was killed by a train at the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center subway station Thursday afternoon, according to information from the fire department.

A department spokesman said that one person was killed and another was taken to Brooklyn Hospital after the incident. Which happened at around 12:25 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Police said the victim, a woman, may have jumped in front of the train.

Ground Floor Gallery's Gate Gets a Facelift

Park Slope's Ground Floor Gallery features the work of local artists all around, and even on the outside of their gallery.

Miles "Reskew" Wickham, a retired graffiti artist, happens to live on the same block as the gallery and was happy to give their gate a new look.
