UPDATE: Suspicious Package Found on Flatbush Avenue, Bomb Squad Finds Sheets Inside
Police and NYPD Bomb Squad units are investigating an unattended blue suitcase sitting on the sidewalk at Bergen and Dean streets.

UPDATE, April 19, 3:40 p.m.: According to police on the scene, the Bomb Squad found white sheets and blankets from the now-closed St. Vincents Catholic Medical Center inside the suitcase.
Cops said that there were no hazardous materials found in the suitcase. Traffic is not blocked anymore and people are allowed back into stores surrounding the intersection of Flatbush Avenue, between Bergen and Dean streets.

Police responded to a call about a suspicious package on Flatbush Avenue on Friday afternoon, NYPD officials on the scene said.
Police blocked off traffic on both sides of Flatbush Avenue, between Bergen and Dean streets, due to an unattended blue suitcase sitting on the sidewalk in front of a closed kitchen and bath store, cops said.
According to eyewitnesses on Flatbush, the NYPD’s Bomb Squad arrived to the scene at around 3:20 p.m. to further investigate the contents of the suitcase.
People have been evacuated from stores in the immediate area, and traffic is blocked off in both directions on the major thoroughfare.
The suspicious suitcase is sitting a block away from the Barclays Center.
