Police Blotter: Burglar Arrested While Breaking into Union Street Home

A was arrested for trying to jimmy the front door of an apartment between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

Attempted Burglar Arrested with Crack Pipe 

Police arrested a 44-year-old woman after she was caught trying to break into a Union Street apartment building and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia  June 6.

The owner of the building called police when she realized the wannabe burglar was trying to jimmy open the front door of an apartment building between Fifth and Sixth avenues at 4:50 p.m. with a metal blade. When cops arrested the crook, they also found a glass crack pipe with crack residue inside.

A burglar broke into a St. Marks Avenue apartment and stole $1,300 in electronics and jewelry on June 6.

The 36-year-old victim told police that he left his apartment, between Fifth and Flatbush avenues, at 7:30 a.m. and didn’t return until 6 p.m. His back window does not lock. When he got back, he found that his Toshiba laptop and jewelry were missing. The crook entered through the unlocked back window and left the screen up. The burglar then left through the back door, leaving it unlocked. One neighbor told police that she saw a man, who she didn’t recognize, leaving the apartment between 10 and 10:30 a.m. with a large backpack.
