THE CLAUDIA QUINTET

Performing their acclaimed 2010 album Royal Toast.
Pre-concert discussion with John Hollenbeck at 7 pm led by Jazz Critic David Adler (Time Out, JazzTimes, Village Voice).

Featuring:
John Hollenbeck, drums & compositions
Chris Speed, clarinet and tenor saxophone
Red Wierenga, accordion
Drew Gress, acoustic bass
Matt Moran, vibraphone
And SPECIAL GUEST: Matt Mitchell, piano

The Claudia Quintet, founded in 1997 and Hollenbeck's longest-running group, has made its mark on the jazz world through its singular, genre-defying sound. DownBeatcalls them "a chamber band that has tickled the ears of adventurous listeners for a decade with its deft blend of improvised jazz solos, run-on, minimalist figures that gradually shift shape and color, and unusual instrumentation" and the All Music Guidecalls them one of the "top five progressive jazz units in the U.S."

The presentation of the Claudia Quintet is supported by Chamber Music America's Presenting Jazz Program, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

This program is also supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

Location: Brooklyn Conservatory Concert Hall "Jazz Club". BYOB
Tickets: Seated: $25; Students and seniors: $20; Standing: $15
