Simple Stitches: Book Binding with Shannon

Come hang out with us and learn all the basics of book binding- reuse style! We will begin by making a simple single signature work book, with a few options for how to stitch it up, and then we will move on to make our books bigger. The class will finish with learning to make multiple signature books using a variety of materials for covers. A variety of recycled materials will be available for your use. The speed of this class will depend upon the students' wants; please bring any items you have been saving that you may want to bind together.

Shannon Kerner is an artist, currently living in Boston, MA. She has been binding books since 2011. She has taught paper art classes through her business PaperCraft since 2011, including one at Build-it-Green, Gowanus, which was a workshop making Drawing Sketchbooks out of Recycled Record Covers. She has attended Penland, Cooper Union Continuing Studies and currently attends the North Bennet Street School for Bookbinding and Conservation. She also sings the Blues.

Cost: $40
