Faux Water Tower Sub Irrigation Planters

Have a little outdoor space that is just screaming the need for a
cute little sub irrigation planter?  Well this is the class for you. This
workshop will be all about building SIPs (sub irrigation planters),
which have a reservoir for water underneath the soil. The benefits of
SIPs are that they save water and reduce the amount of times you need to
water. They also decrease fungus and disease for certain plants like
tomatoes because you're never watering the top of the soil.

Joe Chavez will be your fearless leader for this workshop and joins
us from our sister organization Solar One’s Education team. Joe is a
graduate from the Center for AgroEcology and Sustainable Food Systems at
University of California Santa Cruz and has a history of working with
community gardens in NYC. Joe brings expertise and experience to the
Green Design Lab program’s at Solar One which introduces sustainable
agriculture and the food system to New York City students.
