Ben Holmes Quartet at Barbès

Trumpeter Ben Holmes resumes his monthly residency at Barbès following a Summer hiatus. Featuring Curtis Hasselbring (trombone), Vinnie Sperrazza (drums) and Matt Pavolka (bass), the group will perform music from Holmes' recent Skirl records release, "Anvil of the Lord" as well as new music inspired by the Bronx Botanical Gardens, AC malfunctions, the miasma particular to the Gowanus in August, and other things that seemed like essential concerns just a few months ago. "Holmes shows the deft imagination that's mandatory for today's top brass" (John Corbett, DownBeat Magazine).
