Brooklyn Crescents Lacrosse Launch Free Fall 2013 Beginners Clinics

Since 2006 The Brooklyn Crescents Lacrosse Club have been focused on the mission of spreading the sport of lacrosse throughout Brooklyn and New York City.  To many in the Metropolitan area, lacrosse was and is a new sport.  Unlike soccer, football or basketball we don’t see it on every street corner in Flatbush or Fort Greene.  Therefore the cornerstone of growth has been exposure. Get the sticks in kids’ hands and let the Creator’s Game take it from there.

After a few hours scooping balls and taking shots players and parents alike will see the fluidity of basketball in lacrosse.  They will see the same need for stamina as in soccer as well as hockey’s dexterity.  The Crescents believe all we have to get them going.

To that end, The Crescents have hosted free beginner’s clinics for players of all ages since 2006.  From those clinics we have unearthed some of the best male and female players in the city.  Some leading their Crescents teams today.  Some dominating at the high school level and some proudly playing in college.

2013 will be no different as we start the crusade again.

At our clinics players from K through 8th grade will be able to pick up stick and receive instruction from the best coaches and players in the city.  Professional lacrosse players, former D-1 college athletes, head coaches at the city’s premier high schools as well as current All City players.

It is also a great time for parents and caretakers to get a crash course in the game.  So when their young Crescent wakes them up to work on their overhand shot or face dodge, Mom, Dad, Nana, or auntie will at least know what in the world is going on.

For parents who have played or want to be a part of the Crescents family themselves, the clinics offer an opportunity to meet and talk with the coaches as well as board members.

Free clinics will be held Saturdays at Pier 5, Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Beginning on September 14 and running through October 12.
