Poet's Open Mic, Comedy Shows and More This Week

A look at the week ahead in Park Slope.

- Temperatures will be in the 40's for much of the week with wet weather expected in the early going. Light snow may hit on Thursday as temperatures drop into the low 30's.

- Poet and spoken word artist Terence Degan will highlight an open mic at Brooklyn Colony (274 4th Ave.) Tuesday at 7 p.m. A sign-up sheet will be provided at the event. Each poet will have 3 minutes on the mic. (Sign-up sheet will be closed at 8:00 pm) This is a poetry-only event.

- Do you find it hard to keep new year’s resolutions? Head to Slope Wellness (816 8th Ave.) Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a Realizing Resolutions workshop on goal achievement.

Brooklyn Free Space, a cooperative preschool at 298 6th Ave. in Park Slope, will be hosting an Open House for the 2014–2015 school year Jan. 16th from 7-9 p.m.

GAP will kick off 2014 by celebrating its one-year anniversary, with performances by Alexandra Beller/Dances at  The Green Building, 452 Union Street, Thursday at 7 p.m.

- Cocoa Bar (228 7th Ave.) hosts a Creative Salon for actors and writers Thursday at 7 p.m.

- On Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. head to Littlefield (622 Degraw St. in Gowanus) for 'Mortified', a cult comedy show.
