MLK 5K, Farmers Market and More This Week

What's happening this week in and around Park Slope.

- Winter is sure in full swing this week. Temperatures will be 20s and teens all week after Monday with a few scattered snow showers on Tuesday and Thursday. 

- Join volunteers and folks from all over NYC to empower youth to change their own environments Monday with a 5K Walk/Run, Farmers' Market, "I have a Dream" Oratory Contest, Bone Marrow Drive for minority retired 9/11 responder, dance and other activities for kids and families. The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at  PS 221, 791 Empire Boulevard. The 5K heads from Crown Heights to Park Slope's Da Nonna Restaurant, 140 7th Ave.

- powerHouse on 8th hosts Rachel Louise Snyder, with Danielle Evans Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Snyder, an NPR contributor and investigative journalist, chronicles the first 24 hours after a mass burglary in a suburban Chicago neighborhood in her debut novel. Author Danielle Evans will join Snyder in conversation. 

- Monday Tai Chi Class continues at BAX (421 5th Ave.) in Park Slope at 1 p.m.
