NYC Under Heat, Air Quality Advisory

Heat advisory issued Wednesday.

It may be September, but summer just gave us a reminder that it isn't over.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for New York City until 6 p.m. Wednesday, with heat index temperatures expected to rise as high as 102 degrees.

There is also an air quality alert in effect until 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service recommends avoiding strenuous outdoor activity during high-heat hours, and avoiding activities that could impact air quality, which includes driving and using lawn mowers and other gas-powered vehicles.
