Just in time to get hyped up about the summer London Olympic games, U.S. Ski Team members Jessie Diggins and Andy Newell will talk to kids at the Park Slope Armory YMCA tomorrow, July 19.
Diggins and Newell will chat with YMCA campers – from 10 a.m. to noon – about what it takes to be a world-class athlete, the importance of fitness and the meaning of team spirit, while also teaching basic skiing concepts.
Diggins won a U.S. Championship and competed in a World Cup and World Championship all before her 20th birthday, while Newell is a previous Olympic competitor and World Cup medalist known for his impressive sprints.
Both are likely to compete in the 2014 Sochi Olympic games.
