School Rezoning Vote Tonight

District 15 Community Education Council will vote on the Department of Education's proposed school rezoning map that will affect many families in Park Slope.

How to rezone the neighborhood's school districts...that is the question.

Tonight, Wed., Nov. 28, the District 15 Community Education Council will vote on the Department of Education’s proposed school rezoning map that will affect prospective students of P.S. 321, P.S. 107, P.S. 39 and P.S. 10.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. at MS 443 New Voices, at 330 18th Street, between Sixth and Seventh avenues.

In order for the Department of Education to move forward with their rezoning plan, click here to see info on the potential new zones, District 15 CEC would need to approve it. The new school zoning would go into effect for the 2013 school year.

The new proposed school zones, which are different from the first draft released in Oct., would cut the swath of Park Slope for P.S. 321 and P.S. 107. The new school zones would also reshape the area for P.S. 39, but expand P.S. 10’s. As we reported earlier, a new school for kindergarten through fifth grade will open at 211 Eighth St. and Fourth Ave., inside the former St. Thomas Aquinas school building.
