What and How to Feed Your Dog

Did you ever wonder what goes into the food you feed your dog?  Are the ingredients aimed to keep him healthy or to provide profit for the dog food company?  How do you know the food you are feeding is safe?  Why do some manufacturers knowingly put toxins in their canine treats?  What should you do to keep your pup safe?  How do you find out about dog food recalls and what should you do?Dog food should be nutritious and it should be safe.  Too often, as we saw last April and May with all the recalls, it is neither.

Dr. Amy Zalcman, Dr. Kathryn McGonigle and Dr. David Wohlstadter, all of Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Brooklyn will explain how to read a dog food label and what the ingredients mean – are they in the food because they are good for your dog or because they help the manufacturer’s bottom line?  What is legal to put into dog food but – for good reasons – banned from human food?  Why would a manufacturer knowingly put toxins in their dog treats?

The cost to attend is $10, $5 for members of FIDO or clients of Brooklyn Bark.  Free samples from FreshPet, Kong, Zukes and other dog food and dog treat companies approved by Brooklyn Bark will be given out.
