Sunday Platform: Candidate Without a Prayer With Herb Silverman

Herb Silverman was transformed from mild-mannered math professor to political activist while teaching at the College of Charleston after learning that the South Carolina Constitution prohibited atheists from holding public office. He will talk about his fight to change the constitution and his new book Candidate Without a Prayer: An Autobiography of a Jewish Atheist in the Bible Belt.  Herb also founded the Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry in South Carolina, the Atheist-Humanist Alliance at his college, and is founder and president of the Secular Coalition for America.

Sunday Platforms are a long-standing tradition within Ethical Culture to bring light and heat to matters of ethical concern in a formal setting.
