Summer Enrichment Classes: High School Students

*SESSION ONE:  June 18th-28th, M-Th/ 2 weeks

High School Program—“Sports Stories:  Film Analysis for the Reluctant Writer” (12pm-3:30pm)

Student athletes will review movies and documentary films dedicated to the world of sports, and then compose critiques that develop critical thinking skills and effective writing techniques.

**SESSION TWO:  July 16th-August 2nd, M-Th/ 3 weeks

High School Program—“Common Application Preparation” (12pm-3:30pm)

Students will be guided through college coaching to fine-tune their “short list” of schools, including compiling notes from campus visits, conducting research for supplemental questions and course programs, contacting college administrators and compiling other resources in order to be ready for the Common Application and Senior Year.  Brainstorming and guidance will be given for the Application Essay, with model examples and discussion about common mistakes of high school students during the college process.  Current college students and other special guests will visit the Corner to offer additional perspectives from “the university trenches.”

*SESSION THREE:  August 6th-16th, M-Th/ 2 weeks

High School Program—“The Common Application:  Writer’s Workshop for Voice & Vision” (12pm-3:30pm)

Seniors will be guided through every step of the essay process for the Common Application, from brainstorming topics and writing a rough draft, to editing and polishing a “final piece” to be ready for the fall, stress-free!
