April 17 – Raising Adopted Kids in Jewish Families (for adoptive families and families-to-be)

An exploration of the issues, concerns and decisions faced by Jews who are considering, pursuing or who have already adopted, including the concepts of “be fruitful and multiply”, adopting a non-Jewish child, conversion, Bar/Bat Mitzvah and the child and family’s integration and acceptance into the Jewish community. Also, learn how adoptive families have incorporated different cultures into Jewish holiday celebrations and rituals and learn how to create traditions and rituals to celebrate adoption that reinforce your, your child’s and family’s identity.

Presenter: Dina Rosenfeld, DSW is the Community Educator for the Ametz Adoption Program of the Jewish Child Care Association, who has worked in the field of adoption for over 25 years.
