If you are thinking of taking up the sport competitively there are three main components to make sure you get noticed.

1. Develop you skills – many people think that after training for a few weeks they can enter a fight, win get, get sponsored and get famous. But this is a pipe dream. If you really want to become a pro fighter you need to spend time developing a range of fighting skills – learning to kick and punch as a boxer or kick boxer would so you have an excellent base to progress from

2. Pick A Focus – Once you have achieved the good base of skill and maybe won a few fights in different areas it’s time to pick a focus, whether it be Muay Thai, boxing or kickboxing for example. Now is the time to really develop those specific skills which make you better than your competitor.

3. Win Fights and Stay Healthy – The key to being a professional is obviously to win fights but also to be fighting fit all the time. There is no point winning a title and then eating and training what suits you and always having to start fresh when you want to compete again. Stay healthy and be a role model to beginner fighters to promote yourself for sponsorship deals etc.

Ronin Athletics have excellent coaches and trainers to help you achieve your goals and push you to be the best you can be. Don’t be afraid and dream big, MMA is not just for men but women too as many of the classes are mixed gender to enable everyone to get involved. So what are you waiting for?
