Weiner Compares Campaign to David Lynch Movie

Finally, a candidate says something we can all agree with.

This article was written by Matthew Hampton.

In a recent interview with New York Magazine — yet another sprawling examination of what it all means to be Anthony Weiner — the leading candidate for mayor in New York City said something so profound that we just had to repeat it.

When asked by New York Magazine scribe Mark Jacobson if he felt a little bit like his life was "a Fellini movie," Weiner said no:

"No. Not like that." Weiner was quoted. "It’s more like — who’s the Blue Velvet guy? David Lynch! A David Lynch movie. More like that.”

I have to say, he might have a point there. It's a very limited number of people on this earth who've been on the ride he has — and frankly having one of your Facebook conversations plastered on a wall at the Museum of Sex does seem like something that might happen to a resident of Twin Peaks.

Of course things don't tend to end well for Lynch characters — so who knows if this augurs anything for his chances in the upcoming election. Might be time for Nate Silver to do a breakdown of how summer box office receipts impact the chances of his winning a run-off or something.
