Sex Museum Exhibit Features Weiner

I do not apologize for that headline.

This article was written by Matthew Hampton.

Anthony Weiner has been popping up all over town in an effort to lock down the Democratic nomination for mayor, but there's one place he's turned up that he'd probably rather not be: the Museum of Sex.
As noted by the Associated Press, the Manhattan museum's latest exhibit is an exploration of the changing nature of sexuality in an increasingly digital world. What better way to examine that change than by looking at an infamous political sex scandal that took place entirely in the realm of social media?

"This exhibition explores these very questions through a lens of digital experience by examining what we are searching for, how we do it and what we leave behind on these electronic devices," the exhibit's curator wrote in a press release.

Titled "Universe of Desire," the exhibit features exerpts from a Facebook conversation between then-Congressman Weiner and a Las Vegas blackjack dealer. The conversation eventually went public after Weiner accidentally tweeted a lewd photo of himself to his followers and had his cover unraveled.

The exhibit will run through Sept. 2, and has actually been up at the museum since February, long before Weiner announced his run, so somebody over there gets an "A" for foresight.

For those interested in visiting, there are also interactive (in some way I can't fathom) displays, video and a patchwork quilt that includes photos people took of themselves in flagrante delicto. So enjoy that.

No word on whether or not Eliot Spitzer is ever going to appear at the museum. One can only hope.
