In video published Sunday, Quinn starts campaign to be city's first female mayor.

After months — years, even — of open speculation, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn confirmed Sunday that she's running for mayor.

Quinn uploaded a five-minute YouTube video Sunday, sharing some of her personal history and talking up what's she's done for the city during her time in government.

The video begins with Quinn in a typical New York City scene — sitting at the counter in a diner — and playing up her pro-union bonafides with an anecdote about her father and growing up on Long Island.

"I'm not about talking and finger-pointing and complaining, I'm about getting things done," Quinn said in the video.

Quinn has been the presumed front-runner among Democrats for months. Arecent poll showed her with the most name recognition and support among any of the candidates.
