Obama Thinks Kelly Could Be Homeland Security Chief

Praises Kelly's work with NYPD.

New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly could be on the short list to replace the outgoing Janet Napolitano as head of the Department of Homeland Security, the AP reported Wednesday.

During an interview this week, President Barack Obama reportedly said Kelly would be "well-qualified" for the position.

Obama couched his praise in the statement that he believes Kelly to be happy sitting atop the NYPD for the time being, but said he'd certainly be interested in giving Kelly the once-over for the DHS gig if he's looking for a change.

According to the AP, New York Senator Chuck Schumer has already talked up Kelly to the president.

What do you think? Would the NYPD Police Commissioner make a good Homeland Security Chair? Or should he stick around here? Share your thoughts in the comments.
