Despite Primary Loss, Hynes Stays in Brooklyn D.A. Race

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes is going to stick it out in his bid for re-election, even after losing the democratic primary to challenger Kenneth A. Thompson, according to the New York Times.

Tynes will instead run on the Republican and Conservative lines at the urging of party leaders.

Thompson earned 55 percent of the vote on Primary Day, but since then has been hit with allegations that former Democratic boss Clarence Norman, whom Hynes had slapped with corruption charges, helped drive voter turnout for Thompson.

Thompson denies that.

Hynes is expected to formally announce that he is staying in the race on Tuesday.
