UPDATE: Tractor Trailer Kills 83-Year-Old Pedestrian on Flatbush and Atlantic Aves

Irvin Gitlitz stepped between parked cars into the path of the truck driver on Wed. afternoon.

 

UPDATE, April 6, 1:20 p.m.:  The pedestrian killed after being struck by a tractor trailor while crossing Flatbush Avenue near Atlantic Avenue has been identified as Irvin Gitlitz, 83, the NYPD said.

According to police, Gitlitz was crossing in between cars in the intersection near Barclays Center when he was hit by a tractor trailer traveling northbound on Flatbush Avenue at around 12:29 p.m. Wed., April 3.

EMS responded and Gitlitz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gitlitz lived at 334 Bergen Street, police said. The collision occurred not far from where another pedestrian, by a NYC Sanitation street sweeper Dec. 15, 2012.
