UPDATE: Sexual Assault in Gowanus Bakery

Police are searching for a thug who attempted to rob an area bakery, and then sexually assaulted one of its employees.

UPDATE, March 5, 6 p.m.: According to police, the suspect has still not been caught.

UPDATE, Feb. 28, 8 a.m.: The sexual assault occurred at Everybody Eats on Third Avenue near Carroll Street in Gowanus, according to the Brooklyn Paper. Everybody Eats is not a storefront, but a bakery that sells gluten-free foods and supplies to stores and individuals.

Police are on the hunt for a man wanted for sexually assaulting a woman in an area bakery early Friday morning.

At around 8:55 a.m., a 22-year-old woman was alone in the bakery where she works when a man entered the shop wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun, according to police.

The man forced the young woman into the back office demanding money. When she told the man she had no money he pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

He then fled the scene without successfully robbing the bakery. The woman was treated at Kings County Hospital and released. She sustained no serious injuries.

Cops described the suspect as a black man, standing approximately 5-foot-5, and weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing.

Police would not release the name or exact location of the bakery, due to the nature of the crime.
