Prospect Park Jogger Dies After Being Identified

Rynn Berry passes days after finally being identified at Methodist.

Rynn Berry was unconscious in the ICU at New York Methodist Hospital since New Year's Eve labeled as a John Doe for over a week before being identified.

Just a few days after being identified, with family by his side, he died Thursday at around 12:30 p.m.

His close friend, Martin Rowe, posted to Facebook Thursday:

“I’ve been to the hospital, and I’m sorry to confirm that Rynn Berry passed away today at 12:30 p.m. His family was with him. I can give no further details, since I am not a next-of-kin, but I was told that he had gone into cardiac arrest in Prospect Park. When I saw him yesterday, he seemed peaceful.”

Berry was a well-known vegan author. He had been running in the Park on NYE without any identification when he collapsed. The author was often seen at the farmer's market in Union Square.
