Police Blotter: Yellow Sports Car Stolen from Prospect Park West

Yellow Sports Car Jacked!

A crook boosted a bright-colored luxury vehicle from its parking spot on Prospect Park West between July 12 and 13.

The victim told police that he parked his yellow Audi between Ninth and 10th streets on July 12 at around 10 p.m., but when he returned the next day, it was gone.    

Employee-Turned-Crook

An employee of an automotive supply store stole almost $5,000 in cash and checks after sent to buy supplies and bring them back to the 15th Street business on July 11. 

The owner of Sand Automotive told police that he sent his 42-year-old employee to pick up money from a client, pick up supplies and bring them back to the warehouse, between Second and Third avenues, but he never returned. The crook picked up over $4,000 in cash and checks and a few supplies from one of their clients at around 3:21 p.m. After missing for a few hours, the owner tried calling the employee-turned-crook but there was no answer. After three days, the owner reported him to the police. 

Doctor’s Office Burglarized 

A thief snatched a doctor’s briefcase, with a laptop and other valuables inside, from his office in New York Methodist Hospital on July 10.

The 52-year-old victim told police that he put his briefcase inside his office on the hospital’s second floor, left and did not lock the door at around 2:40 p.m. When he returned to his office at around 4:30 p.m., the briefcase was gone. The crook, who was caught on surveillance camera leaving the office with the briefcase at around 2:44 p.m., got away with the doctor’s laptop, car keys, a Bluetooth and a checkbook.

Laptop Snatched from Open Window!

A clever crook snatched a laptop that was sitting near an open window in a Prospect Place apartment on July 9. 

The 36-year-old victim told police that she left her Apple laptop on her desk inside her apartment, which is between Fifth and Sixth avenues, and left for work at around 8 a.m. Her desk is right in front of a window, which she left open, but it has bars securing it. When the woman returned home at around 7 p.m., she found that her laptop was gone. The crook reached through the window, between the security bars, and snatched the woman’s laptop without entering her home.
