Police Blotter: Thief Steals Camera Delivered to Park Pl. Apartment

Crook Steals a Package from Building

A thief opened a package delivered to a woman on Park Place and stole the camera and lens inside on Oct. 2.

The 33-year-old victim told police that her landlord told her she had a ripped up package in her garbage, between Sixth and Seventh avenues. When she looked at the package, she found it empty. The crook stole her Cannon camera, about $748, and a Cannon 50MM lens, about $359.

Burglar Climbs Through Carroll St. Window and Steals Cash

A burglar climbed through a Carroll Street apartment window and stole $500 in cash and an Apple laptop over night between Oct. 3 and 4.

The 47-year-old victim told police that she left her apartment, between Third Avenue and the canal, from Oct. 3 10:45 p.m. through Oct. 4 at 3 a.m. When she returned, she found that someone had climbed through her window and stole $400 from her wallet and $100 from a box on the counter. The crook also snatched an Apple laptop.   

A Car Stolen from Prospect Park West

A thief boosted a car parked on Prospect Park West some time between Oct. 4 and 5.

The 47-year-old victim told police that she parked her blue Oldsmobile on the northeast corner of 12th Street and Prospect Park West on Oct. 4 at around 8 a.m. When she returned to get her Cutlass Cruiser on Oct. 5 at around 7:05 a.m., it was gone. There was no broken glass and the police said it wasn’t towed.

Purse Snatch from Department Store

A quick-handed crook snatched a woman’s purse after she left it on a display rack in a Fifth Avenue department store on Oct. 4.

The 44-year-old woman told police that she was shopping at DII on Fifth Avenue and Ninth Street, and at around 1 p.m. she put her purse on the display rack and talked with a salesperson for 15 minutes. When she returned, her purse was gone. The crook got away with her iPhone, her debit cards, driver’s license, keys and $10 in cash.

Crook Steals Employee’s Wallet from Flatbush Restaurant

A thief stole a wallet from an employee of a Flatbush Avenue restaurant on Oct. 4.

The 24-year-old victim told police that she went to work at Burrito Bar, between Prospect and Park places, and put her purse in the back storage area at around 2:30 p.m. When she returned at around 10:30 p.m. to get her purse, she realized that someone had stolen her wallet from inside. The crook got away with $150 in cash, her I.D., debit card and social security card.

Car Boosted from Prospect Park Zoo Parking Lot

A crook stole a car parked in Prospect Park after the owner left the keys in the ignition, but locked the doors on Oct. 6.

The 57-year-old victim told police that she parked her gold Ford Taurus in the Prospect Park Zoo parking lot at around 6:30 p.m. She said that she left the keys in the ignition, but locked the doors. When she returned two and a half hours later, the car was gone.

Being that it is an election year, if you and other registered voters scream loudly enough, someoneRead More will hear you. This sounds like a job for the 7 On Your Side, or NY1 who may be able to reach NYCDOT and Higher Ranking officials at the 78th PCT to respond to your complaint and do something.
