Police Blotter: Thief Steals $4K Purse Collection

The victim told cops that she believes the super from her old building in Manhattan, who helped her move, stole six bags by Prada, Zac Posen and other designers.

The following information was supplied by the 78th Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Purse Bandit

A crook stole almost $4,000 in designer purses from a woman while she was moving to a new apartment on President Street Jan. 20.

The 32-year-old victim told police that the superintendent who works in her old apartment building on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan offered to help her move her stuff from the apartment into her car back in January. After he helped her fill the car with her belongings, she drove to her new home on President Street, between Seventh and Eighth avenues. During that time, she believes the super stole her purse collection—six designer purses worth $3,890— that was still in her old apartment. The victim did not realize her purses were stolen until April 21 at her President Street home while unpacking. The crook got away with bag by Prada, Kate Spade, Marni and Zac Posen.

Gym Rat Steals $130

A thief broke into a gym locker on Ninth Street and stole $130 on May 12.

The victim told police that he put his money and credit card in his pants and then locked them inside a locker at YMCA, between Fifth and Sixth avenues, at around 6 a.m. When he returned after his workout at 8:30 a.m. he found that someone had broke into his locker and stole $130 cash and his credit card.
