Police Blotter: Thief Boosts Van from Delivery Man on Prospect Park West

Delivery Van Boosted  

A car thief stole a van from a deliveryman on Prospect Park West and also got away with his cellphone, a box of diapers and $300 cash on May 4.  

The 27-year-old man told police that he parked his white Chevrolet van in front of an apartment on Prospect Park West, between Fifth and Sixth streets, and got out to make a delivery. While making the delivery, he saw a black man, wearing a blue hat and blue sweater, hop inside the van and speed away. The victim told police that the crook made a right on Sixth Street and drove north on Eighth Avenue until he got into an accident with another car. He continued driving and made a left on St. Johns Place going the wrong way and drove on the sidewalk until he made a right on Seventh Avenue and drove north on Flatbush Avenue. The thief got away with the Chevy Express, the victim’s cellphone, a box of 19 diapers, a credit card and $200 in cash. 

The Music Man Robbed  

A crook broke into a van parked on Dean Street and stole $10,000 in musical instruments and equipment sometime between April 29 and 30.  

The 28-year-old victim told police that he parked his gray Chevrolet van between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues April 29 at 1 a.m. and left four guitars and a bunch of music equipment in the van. When he returned the next day at 7 a.m., he found that someone had broken the door and stole the equipment, valued at $10,000. The crook got away with four guitars and cases; a Nord Electro keyboard; 19 cables; a Novation Launchpad, a 64 button music controller and mixer; a pedal case, two piano cases, and a few other things.
