Police Blotter: Teenager Hits Man in the Face with Metal Object, Sending him to Methodist

Stitches

Three 18-year-old kids threatened to rob a bodega on Bergen Street and then hit an employee in the face with a metal object, sending him to the hospital on March 12.

The 39-year-old victim told police that he was working in Slope Food Market, between Sixth and Flatbush avenues, at around 10 p.m. when three 18-year-old men came in. Two young men bought something while the third wandered around the store and then left. A few minutes later the kid came back and aggressively stated that they would “steal whatever” as one of the other kids pushed over a snack rack and they all ran out.

The employee ran after the group, but was stopped in his tracks when one of the kids struck him in the left eye with a metal object. The victim was transported to New York Methodist Hospital and received 15 stitches. The suspects were caught on camera, but no arrests have been made.

Smash ‘n Grab

A crook smashed a car window on Flatbush Avenue and jacked close to $3,000 in jewelry and electronics on March 12.  

The 23-year-old victim said that she parked her gray Mazda on Flatbush across from the Prospect Park Zoo at around 2:30 p.m. and then went into the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Branch for an hour. When she got back to her car she found that someone had smashed the rear window and stole her IBM ThinkPad laptop, a gold necklace with two charms, a silver Mexican abalone ring and an iPod Touch.

An iPad Punch

A group of teenagers punched a woman in the face and snatched her iPad while she was riding on a 2 train near the Bergen Street station on March 18.

The 32-year-old victim said she was riding on a Manhattan-bound 2 train at around 12:15 a.m. when five to six teenagers got on the train at Eastern Parkway. One of the angsty teens punched the woman in the face and snatched her iPad 2 from her hands. The group got off the train at the Bergen Street station and ran away. The victim was transported to Brooklyn Hospital, but was conscious and alert.
