Police Blotter: Quick-Handed Crook Steals iPhone and iPod from Purse at Union Hall

iPhone and iPod Snatch at Union Hall

A quick-handed crook stole a woman’s purse and coat from a Union Street bar, getting away with over $800 worth of electronics and belongings on March 17.

The 29-year-old victim told police that she drinking at Union Hall, near Fifth Avenue, when at around 3 a.m. she placed her wallet and coat on a chair. When she returned 20 minutes later, her stuff was gone. The crook got away with an iPhone, iPod Touch, a grey coat, wallet, driver’s license, $40 in cash, and debit and credit cards.

A crook stole almost $10,000 through unauthorized transactions from a business run out of a Prospect Park West apartment between March 15 and 16.

The 33-year-old victim, who runs an online jewelry company out of her apartment between 12th and 13th streets, told police that between March 15 at 8 a.m. and March 16 at 1 p.m., a crook cashed a check out of her account for $9,6557.
