Police Blotter: Prescription Pad and Four Laptops Snatched from NYM Hospital

The crook got away with a total of $2,000 in computers sometime between May 17 and 20.

The following information was supplied by the 78th Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

Doctor Office Heist

A thief snatched four laptops and a pad of blank prescription slips from a doctor’s office on Seventh Avenue sometime between May 17 and 20.

An employee of New York Methodist’s Faculty Practice for Inpatient and Outpatient Services, who works in the doctor’s management office between Fifth and Sixth streets, reported the crime to police and said she left work on May 17 at 5:30 p.m. and everything was still in place.

When she returned on May 20 at 3 p.m., she noticed all four laptops were missing along with a blank pad of prescription slips, a suitcase and a USB drive. Several other doctors who were working in the building over the weekend told cops that they did not notice anything missing while they were there. A cleaning crew also came into the office on Saturday, as well as three other doctors and a security guard —all of them had access to the stolen property. Cameras are only in the lobby and hallway of the office that got burglarized. The crook got away with a total of $2,000 in computers.

iPhone Snatch on F Train

A sly thief snatched a man’s cell phone and iPod while riding an F train at Seventh Avenue-Ninth Street subway station on May 23.

The 50-year-old victim told police that he was riding a southbound F when he noticed his electronics were missing at 6:50 p.m. The last time he knew he had his cell and iPod was ten minutes earlier when he first boarded the F train at Jay Street-MetroTech. But by the time he got to Park Slope, a quick-handed crook had snatched his Nokia cell and his iPod, worth a total of $400.
