Police Blotter: Luxury Car on Sixth Avenue Left on Blocks After Rim Heist

This 2012 Infiniti had its tires and rims stolen while parked on Sixth Avenue Friday, May 31.

The following information was supplied by the 78th Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

Car Left on Blocks

A crook stole four tires and four rims off a luxury car parked on Sixth Avenue sometime between May 30 and May 31.

The 50-year-old victim told police she left her blue 2012 Infiniti in the care of a friend to watch while she was on a trip to London for the week. The 71-year-old friend told police that he parked the car between Prospect and Park places at 6 p.m. May 30 and all was intact. But when he went to check on the car the next day at 7:30 a.m., all four tires and rims were missing.

Empty Envelope

A thief stole a cashier’s check for over $30,000 after an Eighth Avenue resident sent in the mail on May 21.

The 43-year-old victim told police that he wrote a check for $31,758, put it in a UPS envelope for next day delivery and sent it to a PO Box in Pittsburg, PA on May 21. However, the envelope arrived a few days late to its destination, was clearly tampered with and the check was missing. Police notified the Postal Inspector. The check has not been cashed.
