Police Blotter: Crook Stole an iPod, a $1,000 Pair of Nikes and Clothing from a Car on Bergen Street

Smash and Grab

A crook smashed a car’s window parked on Bergen Street and stole electronics, a $1,000 pair of sneakers and clothing sometime between June 16 and 17.

The 23-year-old victim told police that he parked his brown Acura between Fourth and Fifth avenues on June 16 at around 11:45 p.m. When he returned to his car the next day at around 8:20 a.m., he found that someone had smashed his passenger-side window and stole his iPod, a pair of $945 Nike sneakers and almost $300 in clothing.

iPhone Snatched on 3 Train, Then Returned

Police arrested a thief who snatched a man’s iPhone out of his hands while he was riding on a 3 train near Grand Army Plaza on June 16.

The 34-year-old victim told police that he was riding a northbound 3 train at around 3:10 p.m. but, when it pulled into Grand Army Plaza and the doors opened, a man snatched his iPhone out of his hands and ran off the train. Police caught the man as he tried to run out of one of the station’s exits. They arrested the 38-year-old crook and returned the victim’s iPhone.

Another Motorcycle Stolen

A crook snatched a motorcycle parked on Sterling Place on June 16.

The 32-year-old victim told police that he parked his grey Suzuki motorbike between Fifth and Sixth avenues at around 6 a.m. When he went back to get his motorcycle the same day at around 2:20 p.m., it was gone. The police said it was not impounded.
