Police Blotter: Crook Steals $3,600 in Electronics from Car on Carroll Street

Break-in By Stereo

A crook smashed a car’s window parked on Carroll Street and stole $3,600 in electronics on Aug. 27.

The 38-year-old victim told police that he parked his gray Subaru between Fourth and Fifth avenues at 2 a.m. When he went back to his car, he found that someone had smashed the passenger side window and stole his speaker system, which cost $1,000, a $1,500 subwoofer, a GPS and an iPod.

A thief boosted a man’s car filled with $1,140 in instruments parked on President Street some time between Aug. 28 and Aug. 31.

The 33-year-old victim told police that he parked his red Honda Accord between Fourth and Fifth avenues at around 12 p.m. on Aug. 28. He left his Yamaha keyboard, a keyboard stand, cymbals, a snare drum, an amplifier, a child’s car seat and a sign that read “Team Genius” in the car parked on the street. When he returned on Aug. 31 at around 5:30 p.m., the four-door sedan was gone. There was no broken glass in the parking spot and police said that the car was not in the Brooklyn Navy Yard or in the tow log. 

Back Window Burglary 

A burglar looted a man’s Sixth Street home for a bounty of electronics after removing the air conditioner and climbing in through the back window on Aug. 29.

The 24-year-old victim told police that he left his apartment, between Fourth and Fifth avenues, at 7 a.m. and did not return until 7 p.m. While he was out, a crook burglarized his apartment. He told police that someone had removed his air conditioner from the apartment’s rear window on the first floor and climbed inside. The burglar stole his Xbox, a few games, a guitar, an iPod speaker system, an iPod and $20 in cash.
