Police Blotter: Crook Steals $1,475 in Cough and Allergy Medicine from Duane Reade

Sick Crook

A crook swiped thousands of dollars worth of allergy and cough medicine from a Flatbush Avenue drug store on June 18.

A 35-year-old witness told police that at around 8:58 a.m., a bald man wearing a white waist length coat and white sneakers entered the Duane Reade between Park and Prospect places, took 50 bottles of Zyrtec and Mucinex off a shelf and put them in a black bag. The shoplifter passed several cash registers before leaving the store without paying a dime. He took a total of $1,475 of medicine. He was caught on video surveillance and police are looking for him.

A crook boosted a minivan from its parking spot on Ninth Street sometime between June 15 and 18.

The 25-year-old victim told police that he parked his Red Dodge Caravan at around 5 p.m. on June 15 between Fourth and Fifth avenues. When he returned to get his car, which was parked near his business, on June 18 at 8 a.m. it was gone. There was no broken glass near its parking spot. 

Four Grand in Debit Card Charges

A sneaky thief charged $4,000 to a Prospect Park West resident’s debit card between June 20 to June 22.

The victim told police that he was in possession of his ATM card the entire time and never lost it. The crook charged his bank account several times at different locations for a total of $4,000. 

Bank Card Swiped at Lowe’s

A crook stole a woman’s debit card from a hardware store on Second Avenue on June 22.

The 34-year-old victim told police that she left her debit card at Lowe’s, near 10th Street, on June 21 after buying some things. A cashier took the debit card the woman left behind and put it in Lowe’s money room office for safekeeping. The victim came by the hardware store the next day, but management said that her card was gone. Management said that multiple employees have access to the money room office. The victim canceled her card, but her bank told her that it was used on June 22 at 9:30 a.m.
