Police Blotter: Crook Puts a Car on Cinderblocks and Steals Rims and Tires

A Car Jacking

A crook jacked a car from its parking spot on Fourth Street sometime between May 2 and May 4.

The victim told police that she parked her gray Toyota Corolla between Sixth and Seventh avenues around 12:30 on May 2. But, when she checked on it two days later at noon, it was gone.

A thief stole a man’s tires and rims while his car was parked on 14th Street on May 2.

The 40-year-old victim told police that he parked his Honda sedan between Seventh and Eighth avenues at around 9 a.m. When he went to get his orange Fit the next day at around 8 a.m. it was on cinderblocks and the tires and rims were gone. The crook also damaged the passenger side of the car.

Stolen Car Club

A crook swiped a car that was parked on Prospect Park West on May 2.

The 48-year-old victim told police that she parked her Toyota 4Runner between First and Second streets at around 7:30 p.m. and secured the steering wheel with a lock. The next day at around 12 p.m., the woman went to check on her car, but it was nowhere to be found. The victim said that there was no broken glass where her black SUV was parked.

Down the Rabbit [Window]

A crook smashed a woman’s car window while it was parked on Sterling Place and stole electronics, clothes and cosmetics sometime between April 28 and 29.

The 29-year-old victim told police that she parked her Volkswagon Rabbit between Sixth and Seventh avenues at 11 p.m. When she returned to her white ride, she found that the rear passenger-side window was smashed and her iPad, duffle bag filled with nearly $500 worth of clothes, hundreds of dollars worth of make-up, a pair of shoes and a hair iron was gone.
