Police Blotter: Crook on Bike Steals Woman's iPhone on Third Street

The crook rode off with the victim's iPhone to Fourth Avenue and got away.

iPhone Snatch on Third Street

A quick-handed crook snatched a woman’s iPhone out of her hands and rode away on a bicycle on Third Street June 13. 

The 27-year-old victim told police that she was checking her messages on her iPhone while standing on the southwest corner of Third Street and Fifth Avenue. At 7 p.m., a crook riding a bike rode up to her, snatched her cell phone out of her hands and sped away on Third Street towards Fourth Avenue. The victim was unable to track her iPhone’s location and there were no cameras at the location of the grand larceny. Cops are looking through surveillance footage from a camera on Fourth Avenue and Second Street. The crook, who was not described, got away with the woman’s iPhone and case from J. Crew. 

Tires and Rims Stolen

A thief boosted all four tires and rims off a car parked on Second Street June 11.

The 54-year-old victim told police that he parked his gray Nissan GTX on the northwest corner of Second Street and Prospect Park West on June 7 at 8:30 p.m. On June 11, he heard his car alarm go off at 3:30 a.m. and ran outside to see that a crook stole all four tires and rims and damaged his passenger-side window. The crook got away with all four tires and all four 20-inch rims, a total of $8,800. A similar crime occurred on May 31 on Sixth Avenue
