Police Blotter: Cops Arrest Crook for Stealing Cellphone from Woman on Eighth Ave

iPhone Snatch and Arrest  

Cops arrested a 22-year-old woman for stealing another woman’s cellphone on Eighth Avenue April 23.  

The 41-year-old victim told police that she was walking on Eighth Avenue when she arrived to the northwest corner of Carroll Street at around 2:55 p.m. when a woman asked to use her phone to make a call. The 22-year-old crook tried to snatch the cell out of the victim’s hand and there was a struggle. The crook hit the victim in the face and suffered scratches on her face and neck. Police arrived and arrested the woman, and returned the victim’s cellphone, which was inside the crook’s pocket. The victim refused medical attention on the scene.  

Union Street Break-in  

A burglar broke into a Union Street apartment and stole over $3,000 in electronics and jewelry sometime between April 27 and 28.  

The two victims, 29-year-old and 30-year-old roommates, told police that they left their Union Street apartment between Fourth and Fifth avenues at around 6:50 p.m. to see a play in Manhattan. They left their apartment front door locked, but left the rear window off the fire escape open. When they returned home at around midnight on April 28, they found that a burglar climbed in through the back window and stole an Apple MacBook Air laptop, an Apple MacBook laptop, a pair of gold hoop earrings, a blue and green stone necklace with matching earrings, a gold heart locket, a white stone necklace, and another pair of earrings for a total of $3,050.
