Police Blotter: Burglar Steals Three iPhones, a Laptop and Jewelry from Fourth St. Home

Break-in on Fourth Street

A burglar jimmied open an apartment door on Fourth Street and stole $2,160 in electronics and jewelry on July 6.

The 31-year-old victim told police that she locked the front door of her apartment between Fifth and Sixth avenues and went to work at around 8:30 a.m. When she returned home at around 7:30 p.m., she found her apartment door unlocked and the doorframe was dented and the lock was broken. When she entered her house she found that someone had swiped three iPhones, a Blackberry, a digital camera, a laptop and $500 in jewelry.

A thief snatched a woman’s wallet while she was working at a Fifth Avenue clothing boutique on July 6.

The 25-year-old victim told police that she was helping customers at her work, Something Else at Union Street, and left her purse and wallet behind the counter at around 1:30 p.m. When she checked on her purse at around 3 p.m. she realized someone had stolen her wallet. The crook made off with a $500 designer wallet, $80 in cash and a credit card. 

Eighth Avenue iPhone Snatch 

A crook stole a woman’s iPhone while she was walking along Eighth Avenue on July 6.

The 28-year-old victim told police that a black male, who she described as a 19-year-old, weighing approximately 140 pounds and standing 5-foot-6, tried to take her iPhone out of her hands while she was standing at the corner of Union Street on Eighth Avenue at around 12:15 a.m. The victim dropped the phone and the crook, who was wearing a black tank top, black shorts and black sneakers, snatched it from the sidewalk and ran towards Flatbush Avenue. 

Sidewalk Mugging

A crook snatched a woman’s purse off her shoulder while she was walking along 14th Street on July 7.

The 39-year-old victim told police that she was walking on the sidewalk between Fifth and Sixth avenues at around 4:30 a.m. when a white male ran up from behind and ripped her purse off her shoulder and ran away in an unknown direction. The robber got away with her iPhone, credit cards, driver’s license and $42 in cash. Before she was able to cancel her credit cards, the crook made some fraudulent purchases. 

Another iPhone Snatch!

A mugger snatched a woman’s iPhone from her hands while she was walking on Fourth Street on July 8.

The 25-year-old victim told police that black male, standing 6-feet, approached her from behind while she was walking on Fourth Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues and stole her iPhone from her hands. He fled on foot towards Sixth Avenue.
