Crook Steals $4K in Electronics and $300 in Quarters

A burglar broke into a St. Marks Place apartment and stole over $4,000 in electronics on April 4.

The two victims, a 52-year-old and 43-year-old who live together in the apartment between Fourth and Fifth avenues, told police that they were out from 5 p.m. through 10 p.m., and when they arrived home they found their front door forced open. Once inside their apartment, the roommates found it ransacked.

The burglar stole an Apple PowerBook laptop, two iPads, Sony camera, Panasonic camera and $300 in quarters for a total of $4,200. According to the police report, most of the neighbors did not see or hear anything, except for one resident upstairs said she heard a “loud noise” at approximately 9 p.m., but didn’t think anything of it because the dogs didn’t bark. There are no cameras in the building.
