Police Blotter: Burglar Steals $300 Worth of Sex Toys from Apartment

Thief Steals Woman's Sex Toy Collection 

A crook broke into a woman’s first floor apartment the day before she moved out and stole a computer, a trunk full of sex toys and the keys to her 14th Street apartment sometime between Feb. 25 and 26.

The victim said she was moving out of her apartment between Third and Second avenues on Saturday when she left her apartment for the night at 10:45 p.m., leaving her roommate behind. When the woman came back to finish the move, she noticed that her HP Life Book, a white metal trunk filled with $300 worth of sex toys and a set of keys to her apartment were missing.

Her neighbor said told police that he noticed the basement window was open and closed it right away at 2 p.m., another neighbor also noticed that the main door was slightly ajar at 9 a.m. and closed it.

A Quick Pick

A sneaky thief snatched a woman’s wallet while she was shopping at Pathmark on 12th Street and later used her credit card at two big box stores on Feb. 24.

The victim said she was shopping at the super market, between Second and Third avenues, at around 1:21 p.m. Nine minutes later she noticed that her wallet was missing. The crook made off with her social security card and two debit cards. Later the woman noticed that someone used her card at Marshall’s and Target.

Bad Apple

A nimble burglar climbed the fire escape of an apartment on Carroll Street, opened the back window and stole two Apple laptops and a box of jewelry on Feb. 23.

The victim told police that she left her back window unlocked and left the house, between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. a crook opened the window and snatched two Apple laptops worth $3,500 and a box of jewelry with a necklace, bracelets and pins worth $300. 

Master of Cards

A crafty crook opened a Master Card account under a woman’s name and charged over $10,000.

The victim said a debt collector called her at her St. Jonhs Place apartment, between Fifth and Sixth avenues, on Feb. 24 and said she owed $12,927 since July 2011.

The woman told police that she has never lost her personal ID cards, credit cards or bank information. The victim was also notified that someone tried to open a credit line through Capital One. 

Another victim told police that she was looking at her bank account online on Feb. 23 at her Eighth Avenue apartment, between St. Johns and Lincoln places, when she noticed that someone had made multiple withdrawals at an ATM with a total of $3,900 between Jan. 15 and Feb. 20.

Grand Theft Auto

A carjacker stole a man’s van parked on Second Avenue on Feb. 23.

The victim told police that he parked his silver 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with Pennsylvania plates near Ninth Street at around 1 a.m. When he returned at around 9:30 a.m. that same day the car was gone. He also told police that he does not have any outstanding summonses and there was no broken glass in the parking spot.

Justice Served 

Two shoplifters were arrested at the Bergen Street subway station after stealing almost $100 worth of detergent from a grocery store on St. Marks Avenue on Feb. 22.

The employee who witnessed the crime told police that the suspects asked him to make sandwiches for them at around 2:05 a.m. While he was making the order, he saw the duo stealing eight bottles of Tide detergent, worth $88 on the store's camera.

The employee asked his cousin, who was also working, to go out back and call 911. When the crooks started to leave the store the employee asked one of them to stop and give back the items. The crook then said, “Do you want to see my gun?”

The employee retreated behind the counter and the duo ran off. However, police nabbed the crooks at the Bergen Street subway station. The employee made a positive ID and they were incarcerated.

Pickpocket at the Post Office 

A sneaky pickpocket swiped a woman’s wallet from her purse while she was at the Post Office on Ninth Street on Feb. 21.

The victim said that he hung her purse, which had her brown Gucci wallet inside, on her stroller at around 11 a.m. and walked up to the window between Fourth and Fifth avenues. When she got back to grab her wallet 30 minutes later, she said it was gone. The crook made off with the woman's two debit cards, five credit cards and her check book.
