Police Blotter: Burglar Steals $1,500 Bike from Seventh Ave Apartment

The Bike Burglar

A burglar climbed through a Seventh Avenue apartment back window and stole a $1,500 bicycle sometime between March 30 and 31.

The 44-year-old victim told police that she left her apartment between 13th and 14th streets at around 8 p.m. on March 30 and when she returned the next day at around noon, she found that someone had burglarized her home. The victim told police that the crook entered her apartment through the rear window, which was closed but not locked, stole her black bike and left through the front door. She also said that the crook drank water out of a wineglass and left it on the kitchen counter. There are no cameras in the building and no neighbors heard anything.

An identity thief stole over $10,000 from a Bergen Street resident’s bank account between March 26 and April 1.

The victim told police that she was at work when her bank notified her that she had $133 in her account and that there were five people named as secondary account holders. She said that she never had a joint account and did not know any of the people named. The bank also notified her that someone opened a new account with $11,000 of her money and withdrew it.
