Police Blotter: Burglar Steals $1K Bike from Fifth Street Apartment

Italian Bike Job

A crook stole a $1,000 bike from a Fifth Street apartment while the victim was home on Aug. 16.

The 46-year-old victim told police that a thief entered her house, between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West, at around 1:25 a.m. through the front door and stole her Guerciotti bicycle. The victim’s mother was also home, but didn’t see or hear anything.

Back Window Burglary

A crook climbed through a St. Marks Ave. apartment fire escape window and stole an Apple laptop on Aug. 16.

The 31-year-old victim told police she left her apartment, between Fifth and Sixth avenues, at 2 a.m. and didn’t return until 10 p.m. When she returned home, she found that the front door chain was locked from the inside. She found that her window off the fire escape was open and a 17-inch MacBook was gone.

Pizza Man’s Car Jacked

A quick carjacker boosted a pizza deliveryman’s car while he left it running on 13th Street on Aug. 17.

The 33-year-old victim told police that he left his keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked as he delivered pizza to an apartment between Fourth and Fifth avenues at around 7:30 p.m. One minute later, the car was gone.  

Subway iPad Snatch

A thief snatched a woman’s iPad from her hands while she was riding the R train at Union Street subway station on Aug. 18.

The 24-year-old victim told police that she boarded the R train at 86th Street at around 6:50 p.m. But, at around 7:23 p.m., the train came to Union Street station when a crook snatched the iPad out of her hands and fled the train. She told police that the crook was a black 17-year-old kid with braided hair and was wearing a baseball hat and stood about 5-foot-7. She also told police that he boarded the train at the Fourth Ave.-Ninth Street station.
