Good Arrest: 19-Year-Old Caught After Knife-Point iPhone Mugging

Police tracked the knife-wielding crook's location with the Find My iPhone App and found him trying to sell the phone on Fulton and Hoyt streets.

A 19-year-old was arrested for stealing a kid’s iPhone at knifepoint on a Fifth Avenue school basketball court June 15, the NYPD said.

According to cops, the 13-year-old victim was with his friend playing basketball on the courts of M.S. 51 on Fifth Street, between Fourth and Fifth avenues, around 5:30 p.m. when an older kid approached them and asked for the time. The 13-year-old pulled out his iPhone to check the time when the teenaged crook snatched it, pulled out a knife and said, “I’m taking this,” and ran away. 

Police tracked the knife-wielding crook’s location with the Find My iPhone App and found him trying to sell the phone on Fulton and Hoyt streets. Cops brought the victim along so he could ID the crook. Cops arrested the 19-year-old and returned the victim’s iPhone.
