Car Crash Sends Pregnant Passenger to Hospital

An FDNY spokesman said the woman was taken from the Union Street accident in serious but stable condition.

A car crash on Union Street and Fourth Avenue injured a pregnant woman riding in one of the vehicles Friday afternoon, according to officials.

"I was stopped and as soon as [the traffic light] went green, I hit the gas," said Damian Troise, whose four months pregnant girlfriend was riding in the passenger seat.

Troise was driving his green Saturn across Union Street when he collided in the middle of the intersection with a livery cab heading north on Fourth Avenue.

Troise said his girlfriend hit her head on impact. She was taken to Lutheran Hospital in serious but stable condition, according to an FDNY spokesman.

Traffic was delayed for a brief period and no arrests were made.

Something needs to done about, those livery cab drivers. They drive like there Indy 500...

It's not just the livery cab drivers. Most drivers think they're the worlds best. Stand on the corner where there's a traffic light and when the light turns green just listen to all the horn-honking. Remember, a lot of people operating cars don't have licenses, registration, or insurance. Sadly, the police can only do so much. Maybe if the penalties were more severe some of this nonsense could be reduced.
