Don't wear i-pods, don't be tweeting, wear sneakers home, be award of yer surroundings, front, back & side. Use common sense & street sense. If youi are walking up 17th st. use the side that doesn't have the opening to the high way. If attacked, fall to the ground & use yer legs on the man. We all know men have upper body strength, your legs are your best weapon. Kick them and scream like a banshee. These men do not want any attention focused on them. Walk with an attitude. If you don't have one, fake it. Never let yourself be taken to a second area, where you will be definetly raped & killed. susan desocio, almost gang raped at the age of 14, I know of what I speak

If the police presence i saw last night was connected to this, then I believe it happened earlier in the evening. I was on 7th avenue around 7pm and there were police cars on every corner between 10th and 16th streets.
