A String of Burglaries hit Park Slope

At least four apartments were broken in to in seven days, according to the NYPD 78th Precinct's crime analysis reports.

In all four apartments that were robbed, the burglar or burglars climbed through the back or side window. In all cases the windows were closed, but not locked. 

The first incident, which occurred on March 7, a crook climbed a fire escape and entered a Seventh Avenue apartment through the back window and stole nearly $3,000 in jewelry and electronics.

The 28-year-old victim told police that he left his apartment, between Union Street and Berkeley Place, at around 8:15 a.m. and returned around 5:40 p.m. to find that his apartment was looted. The crook entered the apartment through the rear window by climbing up the fire escape and exited through the front door. The thief made off with a diamond nameplate necklace, a Washington College ring, drop earrings, stud earrings, a Panasonic DVD player and an iPod Nano, with a total of $2,940.

The second incident was on March 12, when another burglar broke into a President Street apartment through the back window and lifted over $10,000 worth of jewelry and electronics.

The 31-year-old victim told police that he left his apartment, between Sixth and Seventh avenues, at around 2:15 p.m. and returned at 8 p.m. But when he returned he realized that someone stole his white Apple MacBook, a Dell HP laptop, a Cartier Roadster silver watch worth $6,500, a white iPad and a black Diesel watch.

The third robbery of this kind was on March 14, when a thief climbed through a Fifth Avenue restaurant’s side window and stole $200.

The owner of , an Israeli restaurant near Prospect Place, told police that the side window, on Prospect Place, may have been unlocked and that the alarm was disarmed at the time. Cameras in the restaurant show the suspect standing in the restaurant at around 12:55 a.m. He snatched $200 in cash. 

The last window-bandit burglary was on March 15 when a climbing crook entered a St. Marks Place apartment through a back window and stole four computers, a diamond engagement ring and other jewelry and electronics.

The 25-year-old victim said that she left her apartment, between Fourth and Fifth avenues, at around 7:15 p.m. and returned at 9 p.m. to find that it was looted. She told police that the back window, which is off the fire escape, was closed but not locked. The crook lifted a white Mac desktop computer, a silver Mac desktop, two MacBook Airs, a yellow gold engagement ring with emeralds and diamonds, a Claddagh ring, a silver ruby bracelet and a Sony Dashboard, which is like a tablet. The woman said that the thief stole a total of $6,799 in goods.
