A Cyclist Crashed in Prospect Park, Suffered Head Injury

The accident only involved one person and he is in Kings County Hospital being treated for his injury.

A bicyclist was riding down Prospect Park’s West Lake Drive when he suddenly lost control, crashed and suffered head trauma, according to the NYPD.

Police said that on Saturday, Dec. 10, the 58-year-old man was riding close to the location where two near-fatal accidents occurred between cyclists and pedestrians, one happened this past June and the other happened in November, close to the Vanderbilt Playground.

The man did not hit another cyclist or pedestrian, but did suffer head trauma, police said.

A spokesman with the 78th Police Precinct said that the EMS found the man lying on the drive unconscious. He woke up in the ambulance while they were bringing him to Kings County Hospital so he could be treated for his injury.

Linda Cohen, a 55-year-old park volunteer who walked five miles in the park every day, , close to the location where the 58-year-old crashed on Saturday.

Dana Jacks, a 37-year-old woman who was struck by a cyclist (near where Cohen was hit) in the park in June, also suffered severe head trauma and was in the intensive care unit for 14 days.
